General Background Information
- We cast both non-union and union (SAG & AFTRA) actors.
- Non-union rates are $64/8 hrs (guaranteed even if you work less than 8 hours)...overtime will be calculated at standard practices.
- Please make sure you receive your copy of the payment voucher at the end of the work day...please keep it in your personal records until you have received payment for your work...Palomar Entertainment does not have copies of your payment vouchers.
- If you have not received payment for your work within 2-3 weeks, please contact the phone number on your payment voucher.
- Average work day is around 12 hours...could be less...could be more...you should always plan on having the whole day available for us.
- We often get our information late and we make our phone calls for booking the day before...it's okay if you aren't available...we will try to book you at another opportunity.
- Once officially booked, to access your information such as call time, wardrobe, and location...you can visit our website www.palomarentertainment.com. Please note that the information will be updated after 9:00pm.
- You will have to bring your own clothes to wear...you should bring several choices for the wardrobe dept to select from and they may also give you something of ours to wear (all borrowed items must be returned to the wardrobe dept in the same condition at the end of the day)...please note that we can never use the colors of solid red, white, or black (these colors do not show up well on film)...and please keep the patterns simple.
- You should always bring a warm coat with you to wear in between filming during cool weather...the wardrobe dept will not be able to provide one for you (we do not want you to get sick).
- Sometimes we shoot all day exterior scenes...which means you will start at the crack of dawn and be done by sun down...sometimes we shoot all night exteriors...which means you will work from sun down to sun up.
- There will always be downtime while the film crew is setting up so please bring reading materials to keep yourself occupied.
- You should also bring a folding beach chair to relax in between scenes.
- Please do not bring anything of value to set. We are not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
- Proper film etiquette requires that you have your cell phone off during filming and also "mime speaking"...the sound dept can catch all sounds and we should only hear the actors speak their lines.
- When you arrive, you will check in with the background coordinator and he/she will ALWAYS be your point of contact...if you have any questions and/or concerns, the coordinator is the only person who can find out the answers.
- Once you've checked in, you are required to stay and work until you are "wrapped"...please remember that they are long days.
- Only the booked "extras" can come to set...you cannot bring your friends or your family to hang out and watch.
- If you are working as a "minor/child"...you must have a current entertainment work permit and an adult must accompany the child for the entire day.
- You cannot take pictures or approach the actors or director without asking your background coordinator first.
- If you have to cancel...please call us right away and let us know in order for us to replace you...a "no-show" is not invited back to work with us.
- Most important of all...have a great time on set!!
